Bene's birthday 200km FAI triangle

BGD Team Pilot Bene Bös celebrated his birthday this year in his favourite way – by flying a 200km FAI triangle on his trusted Luna 2 20.
Bene is no stranger to big triangle flights, and always sets his sights big. This is his report from the 15 January 2022 flight:
"What a day! The weather forecast for my birthday was mixed, the wind was predicted to be relatively strong in parts, and it was unclear if the cloud cover would be up or not. So I planned a 200km triangle and drove to the field, knowing that it might not be a cross-country flight, but only a small round.
After the first 30km I actually had to reschedule, because I arrived at the northern border of the big cloud hole. As far as I could see, however, there was still the possibility to follow the clouds towards the southeast and thus complete at least one more 100km FAI triangle.
I was flying the BGD Luna2 20m and the Moster EFI (electronic fuel injection) was running perfectly even in the cold temperatures. On the thrust arms of my Eclipse frame, I mounted a RAM mount to have my cell phone with the flight planning well in view. This allowed me to easily adjust my planning in flight after I realised that I could follow the clouds all the way to Aalen. Surprisingly, the edge of the Swabian Alb was free, and the closer I got to Stuttgart, the higher altitudes were also free. So I could even extend my triangle to 200km, which I would never have thought possible at the beginning.
Only 10km west of the airfield everything was in fog again. You can imagine how happy I was to land at the airfield again after almost 4h and a distance of 208km (202km FAI triangle). The satellite image shows very nicely the course of the cloud line in the southeastern direction and so I can say that I really got the maximum out????.
