Congratulations to Brazilian team pilot Alan Braga, who won the Brazilan Paramotor Championships 2024, flying the Luna 3.
He had not had the wing long before the competition, but told us his confidence just grew as he explored the full speed range of the wing. For speed, he chose to fly trimmers open for much of the time, moderating his speed using the bar, depending on the air he found himself in. For efficiency tasks he used the trimmers on setting 2, achieving 13km per litre of fuel.
"The Luna 3 impressed with its speed, stability, and performance, even in moderate turbulence. I believe there was a wind of 25 km/h in some sections, and when I climbed to higher layers. The average speed was 67 km/h.
Everyone I passed was impressed with the speed of the wing!
"At full speed, the wing becomes more stable than in normal trimmer conditions. Of course, in this case, we might have additional risks, and perhaps it’s better not to push it, but it’s a fact. I believe there’s a mathematical explanation: if you’re at 50km/h and receive a 20km/h gust, that's 40% of perturbation to the wing's speed, but if you're at 80km/h and receive the same gust, it’s only 25% of perturbation.
"Well, no collapses, no scares, nothing".
