Info

The ECHO MOTOR is an easy, safe and versatile lightweight powered paraglider. Its stripped-down line-set and lighter materials shave grams and increase performance and versatility with no compromise in safety. The ECHO MOTOR has Bruce’s trademark handling and its low weight means less inertia, less shooting and better roll stability. 3D CCB panel-shaping mean a clean, high-performing aerofoil and the strong shark nose keeps the leading edge solid at all speeds. Smooth, easy bar action is assured by silky-smooth Ronstan ball-bearings. The ECHO MOTOR is available with free-flight or PPG riser-sets. It offers clear, concise feedback, a relaxed feel in active air and top performance for its class!

Tech

Baby A-riser

We have added a 'big ears' A riser which is also on a ½ ratio with the rest of the A lines. This facilitates easy use of big ears while helping speed and stability while on bar. The speed system is light and simple without reflex really helping glide at speed.

Chord Cut Billow (CCB)

Chord Cut Billow technology has been developed to improve the form friction, glider stability and overall performance of our paragliders. Two seams run chord-wise across the top panels of the leading edge to accommodate the panel ballooning that happens when the wing is inflated. Up to five centimetres of excess material is created on the sides of an inflated flat panel bending over a wing profile. Chord Cut Billow technology absorbs the material with a 3D panel resulting in fewer ripples and improved rib profile shape and stability.

Elliptical arc

A high and elliptical arc gives the wing good handling, and makes it more stable under power.

High or low hang point ready

In order to maximize versatility this wing caters to both low and high hang point paramotors. We have added brake pulley loops, tip steering pulleys, and snap locks for both positions making the switch quick and easy.

Motor Risers

Trimmers and a re-designed geometry make the PPG risers fully optimised for speed and safety. The trimmer webbing and brake pulleys have been designed to be replaceable if they become worn.

Progressive Stability

Progressive stability has been designed into all our gliders to help pilots feel turbulence and avoid it. This makes for safer and more comfortable flying.

Replaceable brake pulleys

With a simple around-and-through, you can easily replace those squeaky old brake pulleys or switch them for rings.

Snap Locks

Snap Locks are lightweight, compact attachments that effortlessly connect the brakes to the risers. A small focused magnet inside the catch and an internal locking system hold the handle in place, releasing only if the handles are pulled down towards the pilot. This unique design feature means the handles don’t fall off while kiting, packing, or performing manoeuvres. The Snap Lock system solves many of the problems associated with press-studs and magnets.

Strong Shark Nose

An ultra aggressive shark nose optimises stability at all speeds. Not all sharks are created equal and BGD’s shark noses are very aggressive, maximising the effects of the technology.

Weight-optimised ribs

We have maintained the strength and rigidity of the ribs while removing unnecessary material. This means less weight for no increase in cost or reduction in strength of the wing. The hole positioning and size depends on the loads taken locally by the sail, and it is thanks to recent developments in our software that it is now possible to accurately calculate this.

Target

The world is changing. Technology is advancing with materials and techniques evolving. Strength now comes in ever-lighter packages. Paraglider and paramotor pilots are realising the benefits of lightweight kit, and the ECHO MOTOR is for these pilots. Its low weight translates to easy light-launch characteristics with fun, safe handling. The Echo Motor is for newbies and seasoned pilots alike, and EN/DGAC certification means no matter what conditions Mother Nature provides, getting into the air has never been easier.

Designer's notes

I am surprised lightweight PPG wings have not caught on earlier! I designed the ECHO MOTOR because I know that for many of us, every gram counts. It pushes the limits of weight while retaining very good durability. It is a simple, rugged and very clean wing, with 42 optimised cells and an easy pitch profile offering a high degree of passive safety and stability under power. The ECHO MOTOR’s modest aspect ratio of 5.0 is the right balance of safety and performance, and the new PPG risers provide speed, safety and features that every motor pilot will appreciate.
